I filed my labor on Feb 5th and still in processing. My lawyer has opened an enquiry but so far no response. I read this in the Immigration -law site:
As to the problem of Atlanta National Service Center delays, there were rush of H-2B case filings and that Center had to switch around the resources from PERM to H-2B cases. However, the situation is under control and the Atlanta Center will see positive changes from here on in terms of the processing times. There are aware that in light of the immigrant visa number changes in July 2007, such changes should help in achieving some level of fairness.
Hope something works out quickly before we miss the bus. I am planning to send an email or request to my Senator. Any ideas on this?

Please update us on this thread when you receive the physical notice and let us know if the receipt date was Jun15th or something else. That will give us some vital information abt what the defintion of receipt date is.

My application was sent on June, 14th and delivered on June 15th (I have the FedEx tracking info and signature page confirming 6/15).
The case status online based on receipt number (obtained by calling them a few times until I got lucky) says:
"On July 11, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case."
Not sure if the online status is referring to the receipt date or the notice date when it says "On July 11, 2007, we received" when, in fact, they received it on June 15th!!

I don't think it's possible, or people will all file to Chicago. There is one thing you can do though, which is to write to Atlanta center and express your concerns. Probably also write to the higher officials to the Department of Labor. I believe the more people write to them, the more chances they will look at it seriously.
I have wrote to the office of DOL secretary, Elaine Chao, to express my concern and that the deplay could mean seriously delay for us, who live and work in the country legally, pay taxes and fees, to file for green card application. I suggest you all to do this.

I just registered for IV. I wish I could come to DC rally on 18th. But due to certain unavoidable circumstances I may not be able too. This is the worst DMV in NJ... You may be better off going to Jersey City, Princeton or anywhere else.
Princeton/Trenton are also worst...FYI...My DL already expired on 9th Sept.
I went to Trenton with original receipt and employer letter but still they refused to renew my license.
My attorney forgot to upgrade my H1 application to premium process and then started to defend himself by saying that he did not get any approval from my employer and at the same time he never told me that he did not get my employer authorization till Sept 11th where as I asked him to upgrade to premium sometime in last week of July'07. So from July to Sept'11th he kept making excuses one after another but never mentioned that he needs an employer authorization.Thats how these attorneys work and screw our lives....

They can deny for whatever reason they think is risky. Banks are looking for reasons to NOT loan right now, as opposed to 2 years ago when everyone waling in were offered free money.
I suggest you go to a reputed FCU or small, regional bank. IMO, they are much better to work with. I recently refinanced a loan with an FCU, originally extended to me by our local bank.
Terms and paperwork is VERY easy, you get to talk to the same people through your application as opposed to a big bank where your papers are pushed around the country every week (my experience with BoA).

AFAIK, this memo only applies to those I-140 petitions which do NOT require a labor certification approval. It does NOT apply to EB-2 Advanced degree holder petitions which require a certified labor and BS + 5 yrs or MS + 0 yrs of experience.
Though, for now, most of us who are filing in EB-2 Advanced degree holder category have nothing to worry, this definitely looks like a targeted approach where they are coming after everybody, one category at a time. So its just a matter of time it seems when they come up with something which targets everyone...

Well, so far so good for me. As per Zillow estimate, my home value is now 10k more than my purchase price. It depends on where you're buying.
I guess that when the economy starts climbing up and people starts buying houses, interest rate will also climb up to 6%. At 6%, I need to pay $400 more per month.
If you check interest rate trends for the last 50 years, You will notice that during every economic downturn which is every 5-7 years the interest rates do come down. Although this time the down is a bit more due to severe recession, If you notice even in the last downturn around 2002 was in the 5% range. So only buying a house on the basis of low interest rate may not be prudent.

One month is a small time span to check the value. If lets say one year from now your house loses value by 6%, The money you would save by taking a 6% loan on a lower principal will be higher than the lower interest rate on a 6% higher principal you pay now. You can always refinance again during the next downturn when the rates may again go down. But you cannot change the original principal at what you bought the home.
So My point is the original principal you pay to buy the home should be a more important factor in buying a home than the low interest rate.
I think you must have considered everything and made a smart choice, and this is not pointing at you. This is just a data point for others who haven't bought yet to consider.
I guess that when the economy starts climbing up and people starts buying houses, interest rate will also climb up to 6%. At 6%, I need to pay $400 more per month.
If you check interest rate trends for the last 50 years, You will notice that during every economic downturn which is every 5-7 years the interest rates do come down. Although this time the down is a bit more due to severe recession, If you notice even in the last downturn around 2002 was in the 5% range. So only buying a house on the basis of low interest rate may not be prudent.

One month is a small time span to check the value. If lets say one year from now your house loses value by 6%, The money you would save by taking a 6% loan on a lower principal will be higher than the lower interest rate on a 6% higher principal you pay now. You can always refinance again during the next downturn when the rates may again go down. But you cannot change the original principal at what you bought the home.
So My point is the original principal you pay to buy the home should be a more important factor in buying a home than the low interest rate.

Still some Senators does not understand difference between H1b issue and GC backlog and how can they understand the Administrative issue like this. But Congress women Lofgren will get reply for her letter from DOS and USCIS.
I called the congresswomen and senator from our constituencies. They do not have any idea what I am talking about. I think I made them more confused than ever.
We need to come up with a letter format, which can be printed and send it to them by mail as well as we need to have web fax with a clear message.
